چکیده

Steel-concrete composite beams have been used in bridge construction for decades. Novel demountable bolted shear connectors, that allow disassembly and offer high level of prefabrication, are proposed the connection deck with steel beams, as an alternative to conventional headed studs. In terms sustainability, connectors facilitate replacement deteriorating components therefore extend design life. Despite their effectiveness, research on steel–concrete is limited. order expand available literature, this paper develops a three-dimensional finite element model investigate behaviour novel connector precast bridges. The uses high-strength bolts, which fastened beam aid special locking nut configuration prevents slip bolts within holes. accuracy FE validated by comparing its predictions experimental results literature. Once validated, was then conduct parametric study evaluate effect bolt height, diameter tensile strength, pretension compressive strength concrete load-slip behaviour, resistance, capacity stiffness connectors.

Finite Element Instability Analysis of the Steel Joist of Continuous Composite Beams with Flexible Shear Connectors

Composite steel/concrete beams may buckle in hogging bending regions. As the top flange of I-beam in that arrangement is restricted from any translational deformation and twist, the web will distort during buckling presenting a phenomenon often described as restricted distortional buckling. There are limited studies available in the literature of restricted distortional buckling of composite st...

Testing and numerical modelling of Steel-Concrete-Steel with stud bolts connectors subject to push-out loading

Steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich panels are composed of two steel plates with low thicknesses and high densities and strengths and one thick layer between both plates with low strength and density known as core that is composed of concrete. Cohesive material-epoxy resin or shear connectors are usually used to connect the plates to the concrete core. SCS sandwich composites are being develope...

Push-out tests on shear studs in high strength concrete

A lot of push-out tests of shear studs embedded in normal strength concrete were conducted. So current design code methods of the shear studs are based on the test results of studs embedded in normal strength concrete. It also appeared that the strength of connector and the concrete strength are the main factors affecting the behavior of shear connections. But push-out test data of studs embedd...

Impact of Integration on Straining Modes and Shear-Locking for Plane Stress Finite Elements

Stiffness matrix of the four-node quadrilateral plane stress element is decomposed into normal and shear components. A computer program is developed to obtain the straining modes using adequate and reduced integration. Then a solution for the problem of mixing straining modes is found. Accuracy of the computer program is validated by a closed-form stiffness matrix, derived for the plane rectang...

Comparative study on two kinds of finite element analysis of PBL shear connectors

According to the different construction forms of PBL shear connectors in steel-concrete composite beam and steel-concrete joint section, eight finite element models in two groups of the two construction forms are conducted to study different mechanical properties of PBL shear connectors. Following conclusions can be drawn from the finite element method calculation results. The load-slip curve, ...
